Journalism

Over the course of my career, I have put my writing skills towards journalism work. This has taken the form of both political opinion pieces, and investigative research.

I have travelled to places as diverse as ‘the jungle’ refugee camp in Calais, and rural Nicaragua to track down the stories that are shaping our world.

Below are some of the pieces that I have had published.

Latin American News Dispatch

The Latin American News Dispatch commissioned me to write an article about the conflict between a Canadian mining company and the small Nicaraguan community which lives in the area they proposed to work.

The article was based on my own work in the field and on interviews I conducted.

The Barnabus Fund

The Barnabus Fund commissioned me to visit the 'Jungle' refugee camp in Calais (France), and to interview its Syrian Christian inhabitants.

I was asked to write up the resulting information into an article on the journeys they had made to get there, and the conditions they were living in there.

Magnet

Magnet magazine commissioned me to write an article on the 2021 pandemic - specifically how the cultural traditions of various nations influenced the approach their governments took to controlling the disease.

Read About This

I have written several opinion articles for the Read About This website on politics. I was also commissioned to write election profile pieces on American, British and Australian politicians

Redemptorist Publications

Using the knowledge I had gained through working with as an anthropologist with Aboriginal Australians, Redemptorist asked me to write a series of short articles on the history and contemporary reality of Aboriginal Christians
